Near Puerto de Son sits the Castro de Baroña, one of the most spectacular and best-preserved Iron Age archaeological settlements in Galicia, dating back to the 1st century B.C. Right around there we ran into these flashy lizards (Timon lepidus) — the ocellated lizard, aka the jeweled lizard. These two were itching to get photographed: they were in the brush and came out to sunbathe right in front of us, no big worries. Thanks to having my RF-S18-150 mounted, I didn't have to get too close — though we were still pretty near. Their colors are wild, and for a European lizard they run big, around 50 to 70 cm; these two were more like 40 to 50 cm.
Check out that side line of little blue dots — spectacular.
Like I said, they were itching to get their picture taken — this other one even hung around staring at the camera for a bit, gorgeous….
On this second one I gave it a bit more depth of field, since it was lined up lengthwise to the shot, and I went with f/9
